Once in a Blue Moon...what does it really mean?

You've probably heard the expression "once in a blue moon." But what does it really mean?

A Blue Moon is the second full Moon that occurs during one calendar month. Because the Moon's cycle has 29 1/2 days and January, March, May, July, August, October and December have 31 days, sometimes you will see two full Moons in these months. This doesn't happen very often. In fact, it occurs every 2.72 years. So using the expression "once in a blue moon" to mean "rarely" makes sense.

In term of magick, the Blue Moon is a special magickal Moon. You might want to save any really special magick you are planning for the night of the Blue Moon. Some witches use the Blue Moon as a time to set goals for themselves. You can also use the Blue Moon for doing magick for something that you have never done before.

It just so happens that on August 31, 2012 we get a Blue Moon!!

So to help you prepare or gather the things you may need for that special night...we are having a Blue Moon Sale..25% Off everything at Ravens Roost Magick through the month of August!
